DraftKings Partners With Penn National In WV Sports Betting

The DraftKings Sportsbook is finally breaking out of New Jersey’s barriers. The company announced it will be launching a mobile DraftKings app at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Race in West Virginia.

Once the platform passes the necessary regulatory approvals, DraftKings Sportsbook will be an official partner to Penn National, an affiliate of Hollywood Casino. This partnership comes at a perfect timing, when the WV sports betting market is ready to be jump started at any minute.

The DraftKings Sportsbook Could Be The First Online WV Sportsbook

WV sports betting launched in a timely fashion back in August 30th 2018 and already has three operational land-based sportsbooks: Hollywood Casino at Charles Town, Mountaineer Casino in New Cumberland and The Greenbrier, a private resort in White Sulphur Springs.

With the success of mobile sports betting in New Jersey, however, everyone is looking forward to online sportsbooks joining the market. This gives the DraftKings Sportsbook a fantastic edge in the state, allowing it to become the first online WV sportsbook.

The DraftKings App Is Now Offering Casino Games

DraftKings has been riding the wave ot unstoppable expansion these last few months, part of which was its entry into the NJ online casino market. The New Jersey DraftKings app now offers blackjack, alongside sports betting, and is likely to introduce a long list of casino games in the near future, such as slots and video poker.

DraftKings has more than proven it’s capable of being much more than a daily fantasy sports operator. The company has become the leading sports betting provider in New Jersey and has moved on to other market fearlessly.

WV Sports Betting Isn’t The Only State On DraftKings’ List

Along with WV sports betting, DraftKings is also planning an expansion in Mississippi. Everyone is betting on Pennsylvania being next in line, although the launch of online PA sports betting is likely to be delayed until the summer of 2019.

DraftKings might be facing a serious obstacle when it comes to Pennsylvania, though. The state allows for only one sportsbook skin per casino, which would require DraftKings to find a partner PA casino.

Hollywood Casino, however, has already partnered with William Hill in Pennsylvania. Depending on how the search for a partner casino goes, DraftKings may choose New York as its next place of operations.
